Detyens Shipyards Inc.

DETYENS SHIPYARDS INC., established in 1962 and located at the historic city of Charleston-South Carolina, East coast of U.S.A, is offering deepwater, easy access to vessels with planned or emergency D/D & Repairs and convenient proximity to Western Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico trade routes.

DETYENS SHIPYARDS INC. main yard, located on the Cooper River in Charleston, was originally a U.S. Naval shipyard. In 1996 the Navy closed their base and Detyens, which had been operating at a smaller shipyard on the Wando River in Mt. Pleasant, SC, saw an opportunity.

In addition, the Cooper River facility now gives Detyens the ability to provide larger commercial ship owners with quality dry-docking experience. The facility houses 33 marine and industrial companies that serve the fast growing port of Charleston, providing an excellent infrastructure to support the marine industrial base.

During their over 50 years’ operation in the marine industry, Detyens has worked on a wide array of projects. From large commercial repair jobs to simple dry-dockings, Detyens works to make sure that all of their customers leave the shipyard satisfied.

Being the largest commercial shipyard on the East Coast, they focus on safety and exceptional drydock capacity ensuring quality workmanship at a reasonable price. Detyens understands the unique challenges with ship refurbishment.

Detyens offer extensive crane services and shops, flexible work environment including cross-craft policies, three graving docks and six piers. Ship owners who are looking for work to be done in a timely, efficient manner should take a closer look at Detyens Shipyards, Inc. With their central location on the United States East Coast, shipping lanes and the easy access into and out of yard’s premises, ships are coming in and out quickly with either planned or emergency repairs.

DETYENS SHIPYARDS INC. is one of the most experienced yards in the use of ultra high-pressure water blasting as an alternative to grit blasting. Water blasting is safer and cleaner than traditional sand blasting. It introduces no chemicals into the environment, can operate in all types of weather and unlike sand blasting, is safe to operate around machinery and people.

The Shipyard possesses three graving docks and six piers of over 2000m available berthing space, with 10 cranes (56-ton capacity) on a continuous rail system, 3 floating cranes (100-ton capacity) as well as extensive machinery, electrical, piping and steel workshops.
