CARENA (Compagnie Abidjanaise de Réparation Navale), located at Abidjan - Ivory Coast in West Africa, was established in 1953. CARENA, as a leading ship repair facility on the Guinea Gulf, was created by the leaders of two companies namely ACMA (Ateliers & Chantiers Maritimes d’Abidjan) belonging to the Groups Duchesne & Brossière and Sofia, and ACCI (Ateliers & Chantiers de la Côte d’Ivoire) belonging to the group Delmas-Vieljeux.

Fairing-Paint

With a team of more than 100 people under the supervision of a workshop foreman certified ACQPA/FROSIO level 2 and NACE/CIP1 inspector, the work of this workshop focuses on the anticorrosion and antifouling treatment of ships. Yard works on the hulls, superstructures, decks and exterior assembly of the boat, but also in the ballast tanks, fresh water tanks, fish tanks. Surface preparation is done by sandblasting or hydroblasting. Application by airless pump. Yard’s park is equipped with 5 UHP pumps, 15 sandblasters, and 10 paint pumps, as well as a 30 m² sandblasting cabin. Yard applies all types of paints (epoxy, alkyd, resin, conventional antifouling or silicones) and work with the biggest manufacturers in the field.

Boilermaking

Yard’s highly qualified, experienced and optimally sized boilermakers and welders in the workshop and on the site demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in order to guarantee the quality of service to their customers. In view of yard’s many achievements, the client can count on their technicality and human skills. Yard’s permanent stock of 400 tons of GRADE A sheets with EN 10204 EN 3.2 certification is an additional asset for CARENA. Many profile formats are available to us to allow the realization of client’s projects. The boilermaking workshop which extends over 1200 m², as well as a 500 m² platform, guarantee CARENA ability to work on several projects.

The workshop has state-of-the-art materials and equipment consisting of:

• A computer-assisted cutting bench measuring 9 mx 3 m, with a plasma head, an oxyacetylene head and an engraver.

• A fleet of hydraulic machines, such as shears, press brakes and rollers.

Machine tools

The "MACHINE TOOLS" workshop's main mission is the manufacture and repair of various mechanical parts for the shipyard and ships. A dynamic and experienced team of specialists works on a varied range of machines including:

• 02 boring-milling machines (max stroke 2900 x 1350 x 580)

• 03 milling machines (max stroke 1500 x 670 x 480)

• 03 radial drills (max stroke 1450 ×850)

• 02 reciprocating saws (capacity 600)

• 01 flat grinder

• 13 lathes (including 02 large lathe peak height 450-500, between peak 11000; spindle pass 100-510 and a

special threading lathe oil tube peak height 450, between tip 3000; spindle pass 360)

Piping

The piping workshop with its machine park is an asset in the manufacture or repair of all piping, client can also repair their propellers there. In yard’s stock, a wide variety of tubes is offered to the client (API, hydraulic). The repair section of the valves takes care of their repair and can carry out a tightness test on a test bench before final assembly. The piping workshop extends over 1100 m² and has the following materials and equipment:

• a fleet of hydraulic machines, benders, turning machines and punching machines.

• threading machine, reciprocating saws, chainsaw.

• a snapper machine.

Maintenance & Onboard Mechanics

Built on an area of ​​1038 m², with a modern tool store, a karcher area for cleaning and complete degreasing of parts, a safety valve test area and a ship parts storage warehouse of 300 m² near the workshop.

With around fifty specialized mechanics, the on-board mechanical workshop is mainly dedicated to repairing diesel engines, de-icing liners up to 640 mm, grinding valves, repairing propulsion systems, sealing stern tube and laser shaft alignment with FIXTURLASERPRO. Yard’s mechanical workshop is equipped with:

Maintenance and Overhaul of Rescue Equipment

With a raft inspection station built over 220 m² and meeting the standards of SOLAS A.761 (18) regulations, yard’s rescue workshop has a large stock of around 30,000 items and inspects rafts from 4 to 35 berths, under davits or not. As such, we represent raft manufacturers, namely:

Industrial cleaning

Yard’s industrial cleaning team specializes in cleaning tanks, ballast tanks, fish tanks, but also in fittings and any confined space. Compliance with QHSE requirements is yard’s credo! Thus, for yard’s Safety and that of the ship, they only intervene after a free gas of these capacities and ensure continuous ventilation of these areas. Yard’s industrial cleaning team is responsible for the cleanliness of the site, as well as the management of the equipment disembarked from the ships (storage or disposal in the waste disposal centre). The industrial cleaning workshop is equipped with 6 HP 300 bar pumps, a 500 bar HP pump, 12 WILDEN type pneumatic pumps.

Electricity

The electricity workshop, with an area of ​​400 m² on two levels, specializes in the maintenance of electromechanical equipment (electric motors, alternators, transformers, etc.), the rewinding and repair of small portable devices.

With around thirty qualified LV and HV electricians, the workshop also manufactures electrical cabinets of different sizes and then supplies electricity (50 HZ and 60 HZ) to ships in technical shutdown from the quay.

For its services, the workshop has an overhead crane with a lifting capacity of 5T, two winding towers, an electric furnace, a column drill and test benches.



Carpentry

Built on an area of ​​1,590 m², with around thirty wood professionals, the carpentry workshop is dedicated to work in carpentry, furniture manufacturing, fitting out ships and various lamination works. Its ultra-modern equipment consists of of:

Installed along the Boulevard de la Paix, in Banco Bay, as the crow flies from the business center of the Ivorian capital, CARENA has accommodation facilities on its site and reliable security conditions. 5 secure comfort studios with all modern conveniences (wi fi-telephone-TV with Canal-DSTV channels) are available within the enclosure of the construction site with a wide view of the lagoon. CARENA also has modern, fully-equipped offices available to shipowners on site.
